Loganair flight GLA to KOI in a Saab 340 turboprop machine. Noisy but comfy. Thanks to the good guy at the Kirkwall airport I was able to build up the bike indoors. Cause I didn't like much what I saw outside ...:
Rain and wind did not cease during the day. Both were intense, but at least for about two thirds it was tailwind.
Shout out to Orkney Cycles in Kirkwall for inflating my tires up to spec. Something the fancy Crankbrothers pump I purchased for this trip utterly failed to accomplish.
Ring of Brodgar -- in the rain. Stones of Stennes -- in the rain. Skara Brae -- guess what? But visiting those sites easily made up for the wheather.
Stromness is idyllic. And rainy of course. New tent turned out trivial to pitch. New sleeping bag works out well at temperatures of 8 degrees and below.
